One thing I’ve always loved about Saudi is the availability of so many different kinds of food, usually for cheap, and usually for delivery. But unless the restaurant is well known, it’s hard to find locations, contact information, and menus, not to mention the difficulty in communicating in a language I’m not fluent in. Enter Hellofood!
A few weeks ago a representative from Hellofood contacted me and asked me to try their delivery service, and admittedly, I brushed it off until one very hungry afternoon when I decided to give their website a look, and I was pleasantly surprised.
You enter your city and location and voila! So many options (53 in my neck of the woods) that you spend 45 minutes arguing with yourself, trying to decide on which place to order from. If you’re like me an order the same things over and over again, the site even saves your past orders and gives you the option to reorder again later. Hello, creature comforts!
The world of online ordering hasn’t quite picked up here in KSA, so as you can imagine, this is all very exciting for me. For those of you in Saudi, here are the pros and cons of Hellofood according to yours truly:
The service is free! Unless the restaurant itself charges a delivery fee, you only pay for what you order.
The site is easy to use. You enter your location information and receive a list of restaurants that will deliver to you.
The site is well organized with restaurants listed by several categories.
The customer service is fantastic! In a place where there is usually no such thing as customer service, I was happy to be welcomed by the staff and assisted when I had a problem.
The site has no control over the published delivery times. These are set by the restaurants and quoted accordingly, so your food could still show up late and cold despite the great service provided by the staff at Hellofood.
I’ve used the site twice and will continue to do so, which is probably a dangerous idea to be honest. I could potentially get much, much fatter with very little effort. If you’re in the Kingdom, give it a try and let me know what you think of it!
